Craig says that a Mauser was found on the sixth floor of the TSBD.

But in 1968, in an interview with the L.A. Free Press, Craig  is quoted as saying:

"But there was another rifle, a Mauser, found up on the roof of the depository, that afternoon".

    How many Mausers were there?

The Mauser on the roof mistake comes from Fort Worth Star-Telegram reporter Thayor Waldo. He apologized to the WC for it. Other than what he saw and heard that day, I don't think Craig was much informed on the works of the WC.

Yes, thank you Kathy and in turn Vince.  I don't remember ever seeing this.  It is great.

In particular I found interesting Craig states again the gun found was a Mauser, in some detail.  After having backed off that claim at one point.  Lane produces the Weitzman (emphatic) report from 11/23/63, never seen by the WC, in support of Craigs statement.  He then produces, was it one or two CIA documents stating the rifle found was a Mauser.  I don't remember ever hearing/reading about these.  Can anyone else provide more information on them?

This is worth re watching, taking a few notes.

Thanks for bumping this thread as well Kathy.  I want to go back an read the whole thing.

Mauser: Craig in this video added the Mauser stamp detail. He did not mention that crucial point in his 1971 manuscript. The Weitzman report was seen and published by the WC. The WC members did not see all the reports, but their staff members did. The CIA document: Who wrote it? And was the author on the 6th floor on 11/22 or did he just read newspapers? What is his source? The author also states that a Selective card was found, which is untrue. Selective cards don't have a photo,  it was an obvious fake.

    Denis,

If there was a Mauser; and,

If the police took pictures of it; and,

If those pictures are missing; then,

They probably went to the same place as the list of Texas Theater patrons and the list of the license plates of cars parked behind the grassy knoll.

Some lists that officers made and kept in their pockets VS photo negatives… Have CTers inquired with the DPD, NARA, 6FM if they there is an inventory of these photos. Are the images on the negatives numbered? I know that no Mauser was photographed, so I didn’t waste my time inquiring about them. But I had believed Craig, I would have been on the hot trail of that photo.

Are you claiming that Day was lying when he said that only one rifle was photographed?

I wrote in some twisted retrospect and moreover I wrote allegedly altering his statements.   He wrote it was altered and he wrote he was pissed off by that.   If the WC statement had shown what he alledgedly said, he would have gotten in trouble already then, so he actually was better off (and should not have been pissed off), well... for a couple of years.

    So I'm NOT accusing anyone......

    I apologize.

  5. Just three more claims made by Craig. Anyone of you believe them?

    1) The Tall Tramp met Craig when he came out of a radio interview in L.A.

    2) The cab drive who drove Oswald to his place was given a blank statement by the DPD. He signed it, and it was filled out by the DPD. Craig said, "I know it because I was there!"

    3) He claimed he's in a photograph taken of the Homicide Bureau. But it turned out it is NOT him.

For more details on these claims, see my blog.

There is a short segment of film in this video. It starts with Day leaning down to pick up a rifle by the strap attached to the butt end of the stock. He immediately hands the rifle to Fritz, then that segment ends before another segment showing Day examining the rifle. Referring to the first segment only, do you see any indicators that positively determines that the rifle is a Carcano? If you do, can you please highlight them? Thanks

I'll look at it if I have time. If anyone determines the rifle, let us know! If it turned out to be a Mauser, then we have a huge problem. Carl Day handled two rifles, something he denied to me when I visited him in Dallas. Do you know anyone who remembers 2 rifles found? Write his name here _______

    Thanks David.

Good point. So a six round clip, and all bullets accounted for.  I know some were wondering if there were only four bullets recovered at the scene.

For newbies like me, here is some actual footage Alyea took that day, also from the DVP channel:

I'm not seeing a Mauser in this video. How did Alyea miss filming it when he was there?

Exactly right. Anything that didn't fit the official story of LHO acting alone was suppressed and/or replaced. It wasn't ever intended to be an honest investigation. It was intended to pin the blame on one patsy. There's testimony that a Mauser was in the building two days before. It was reported that they discovered a Mauser on the 22nd. Yet people on this forum look at replacing a Mauser with a Mannlicher Carcano as if it was some kind of incredible, impossible feat. An inconvenient piece of evidence was substituted as the cover story evolved in the first 24 hours. It's no mean trick, but to hear some of the people on this forum go on about it, you'd think they turned lead to gold.

The Carcanno was filmed by WFAA cameraman Alyea. Several films and photos inside and outside the building of it exist. Craig said the police photographed the Mauser. Where are those photos? Did you contact the City of Dallas or NARA so they locate those photos or are you just reading CT books and read on the Internet? Did you see my list of questions that I posted? Do you have answers to them?

Thanks for the additional information; Did you see the picture I poste on the 7.65 Mauser engraved as such ?  As I believe this type of engraving was more period correct (v/s the later ones marked as such, or like it)

    7 65 Mauser.jpg

Would you be able to read this from a distance of a few feet? From what maximum distance would a normal person be able to read it?
