Thanks for posting this Doug. Those were the days were they not? What disclosures, what publicity, what headlines. Both in the House with Pike and the senate with Frank Church. For the first time, the CIA and FBI were on the ropes. It actually looked like the good guys, like Frank Church and Otis Pike, would win. But as usual, power wins out. George H. W. Bush, the director who said he was never in the CIA, led a furious counter attack he coordinated with Jerry Ford, Henry Kissinger and David Phillips. Then came the death of Richard Welch and they pulled out all the stops. You would have thought a president had died. After that, Pike could not even get his report published through the printing office and Dan Schorr had to smuggle it out so the Village Voice could publish it. Which is what you have here. Then Bush made CBS fire Schorr. The Pike report had to be published in England. I have a second hand copy I am proud to say. It was called the season of inquiry and it did America some real good. It never returned.

Now, let us begin to get at the outright lies in the record. How about Anne Goodpasture and the so called Mystery Man. As WC apologists like Gerry Posner try to say, this was just the result of a mix up. Posner could say that since the Lopez Report had not been released when he wrote his crapola book. In the report Goodpasture claims that the reason she sent it up was that it was the only one of a non-Latin taken on or even around October 1st. Which is when LHO allegedly called the Cuban embassy from the Soviet embassy. Well, this fell apart under scrutiny. First, there was a non Latin photo taken about 3-4 days before. But Goodpasture tried to change this guy's name to a Latin one to disguise her skullduggery. But even worse, that MM pic was not taken on October 1st. It was taken a day later. This is key. Why? Because if it was the first, it may have been LHO, but on the second, it likely could not have been since LHO left early that morning. A fact that could easily have been checked by going through hotel records at Hotel del Comercio. . She then tried to say it was just an error in reading columns on a chart. Danny and Eddie found that the days on the chart are marked off in red percentage marks. Therefore they called this excuse implausible. The truth is that Goodpasture did what she did because there was no phone transcript on the second. So she pushed this date back to the first as an act of desperation. Why? Because it was the only one she had. Now, that photo was sent up to Texas on the night of 11/22/63. Does anyone really think that she did not know it was not LHO by that time, or in the days to come? If you do then you may believe the Titanic was struck by a torpedo.

Can anyone tell me what the heck FC is talking about when he says I am using David Mantik or David Josephs as a source for that list above of ten points? Because none of them come from either source. These are all in declassified documents by the ARRB. Which, of course, with FC and DVP, is the far side of the moon. They have no idea what that is since they do not read documents. For example, the first four are in the Lopez Report. (For instance, the chart about the mismatched languages and voices is on p. 117. The impossibility of the pulse camera missing Oswald is on p. 303) Do I have to explain what the Lopez Report is? But we also now have the actual CIA photo check documents in the Russian and Cuban embassy which say literally: no pic of Oswald. The fact there was no Saturday call is also in the Lopez Report, p. 190. The information about Duran's first description of Oswald being short and blonde is also in the Lopez Report. But further, that particular info was deleted from CIA reports to the WC. (ibid) The point about the two Cuban Embassy CIA plants not recognizing a picture of Oswald, that was in the documents declassified last October. I have copies of those and so does David. We have discussed them on this forum. These are CIA docs. So if FC wants to blame the Agency, go ahead. The docs about the CIA monthly summaries about the calls to the Cuban embassy not matching LHO, those are also CIA docs which David has placed on this forum Again, maybe FC wants to argue with the CIA. In that case he should call them. As per the phony trail of Oswald not being on the bus on the way down, please read these two articles by David, which are profusely referenced with actual documents inserted in the text which shows that Ochoa and Echeverria made this all up. There are very few articles we ever printed that were as heavily documented with primary sources as these two were. Your effort to characterize it as something else is typical of your bombastic, ignorant and pretentious techniques, which you inevitably revert to whenever you cannot answer questions about the record. Which happens a lot. I think that DVP is a member of Duncan McRae's forum. I suggest you join that one also FC. Over there, that is pretty much a free for all, almost like mud wrestling. You would fit in there pretty well. Over here, we actually try and offer real and documented information. We are trying to solve certain problems in the evidence which the WC left. Mexico City is one of them since, for all intents and purposes, the WC really did not investigate that area at all. Which is a complete and utter disgrace, which you and DVP have no problem with. So please take my advice. You will be welcome with open arms at Duncan's.

I don't know how many times I have to go through this about Marina. I mean really. This gets so tiresome with a guy who has a middle name of Denial. But this is his game. He just keeps of coming back with stuff he knows is wrong. For the simple matter that he has no life. This is his life. For about the 89th time, let us refer to the first SS interview with marina by Special Agent Charles Kunkel on 11/24. This is summarized in Whitewash 2 by Harold Weisberg. Marina was asked about Oswald in Mexico City in that interview, she replied she knew absolutely nothing about that. (p. 20) And OMG, the Ruth Paine letter! About a week ago, I noted all the problems with it. Please. Did you not hear what I said about the FBI? Or do you just want to ignore it as you always do. As I said, David will have something to say about it later. Meanwhile can you reply to the other nine points: Why is there no photo? At either embassy? Why is there no voice match? Why did both informants say he was not there? Twice. Why was there an alleged call on Saturday? Why is there no indication of the calls on the newly decalcified CIA summary per month? Why is it the wrong buses and wrong passport? I will not hold my breath in wait for you to reply to these. You have an unseemly habit of ignoring real evidence. (Yawn)

BTW, let me reply to these diversionary tactics by the two Nutters. First, they say well, where the heck was he? Look, we do not have a police force. We cannot issue subpoenas. We cannot cross examine witnesses. That is what their side did. And they swallowed this whole canard about LHO in Mexico City. BTW, you should have heard Willens down there after Echeverria shut him down over examining Duran (he knew what was up.) He could not understand why the FBI waited so long to try and find any trace of Oswald after the CIA gave up. Well, as David can prove, when the FBI did try and find a trace, they came across Ochoa's handiwork in putting together a phony trail. But they were stuck with it. If they exploded it, that would have meant they would have demolished the whole myth about LHO in MC. Which as I showed, Hoover knew was BS, but could not say it. Second, oh a blond guy. Like somehow it mattered. With no photos, and the wrong voice--and the tapes then said to be destroyed, which they were not--why did you need an impersonator? You did not. Completely unnecessary. All that mattered was the WC swallowed it. And they did. DVP and FC have no problem with that. Like water off their back in a shower.

Pamela: That is something that I don't think anyone can really answer at this time. For the simple reason that the idea of Oswald being in MC has been around for so many decades and so many people have defended it tooth and nail, not just the likes of DVP and FC, but people in our camp also. Like I said, David Josephs has just recently been putting this together and he has added things of late that I was not even aware of. He is doing an article on a different subject for us right now. But hopefully, I can get him to do a written version of his December 15th talk for Kennedys and King.

In accordance with the pleas of people like Card, I will not post this on the--much frequented by FC and DVP thread--headed Bush not in Dallas, he is Dead. But I just want to add this on the last aspect discussed there: anyone who in this day and age tries to make the case that Oswald was in MC is simply not aware of the latest research on that subject. David Josephs made a very good presentation at Gary Aguilar's private seminar on December 15th in SF. Len Osanic was there. Len had film of that on his BOR program last night. As I said many months ago, his work on this subject is going to make a new paradigm in the field. What he does is called real research. He is one of the very few guys who is going through the newly declassified files. In some ways, he has gone beyond the Lopez Report. He and Dan Hardway are honing in on the new model, which I believe to be the correct one. LHO was not in MC, and a false trail was later set up by Phillips, Ochoa, and Echeverria. The latter got a big payoff: he became president of Mexico. Let us never forget what Hoover wrote six weeks after the assassination. In his personal marginalia he wrote that he would not trust the CIA anymore due to the snow job they gave him on Oswald in MC. That is one of the single most important discoveries of the ARRB. And it has turned out to be true.

Davey cannot even get this right. Its not a couple of people. They are the same person, Doyle used the Yates name as an alias. Can you believe this, DVP does not even know who Ralph Yates was!!??

I mean do you know how silly and naive you sound in light of what is known today? The DPD was the single most corrupt big city police force in America at that time. No city has had more serious crimes reversed due to DNA evidence than Dallas. I mean there are whole states that are not as bad as that city was in this regard. Also as Joe McBride has shown, there was a significant number of Klansmen on that force. Think they liked Kennedy? I mean you heard what Alexander said about Kennedy right? You heard what Leavelle said also? How do you reconcile what I think is your admiration for JFK with those comments? Do I need to repeat them for you? As per the FBI, you cannot be serious: with that wide-eyed open mouthed disbelief about the practices of J. Edgar Hoover. I mean, please. Are you still psychologically in sixth grade on this aspect of the case? You do know how many devastating exposes have been written about how badly Hoover either faked or altered evidence in high profile cases, and then lied about it afterwards right? There are several books on this subject, the one I refer to most is Gentry's. If you want me to be specific I will. But this extended as far as having double agents planted in communist cells who would then create evidence and testify falsely on the stand against some poor innocent lefty. Does it get worse than that for an FBI director? Now, recall, in these other cases there was at least the semblance of an adversary system in court. In other words the defendant had an attorney, judge, and rules of evidence and testimony were in play. NONE OF THAT EXISTED IN THE JFK CASE! Therefore, it was even easier to get away with this stuff than in a normal case. So what was going to stop Hoover from doing this kind of thing? Or the CIA, or the Secret Service? So for you to sit there misty eyed and argue, "Are you saying the FBI or DPD would not play by the rules?" And then play something like the Battle Hymn of the Republic in the background--I mean do you know how ignorant that kind of view of America is? You might still believe in Leave it to Beaver. And Ozzie and Harriet. After Vietnam, Cambodia, Watergate, the revelations of the Church Committee and the Pike Committee and myriad other crimes and scandals, most adults do not.

Davey: As Sandy noted above, it does not mean one thing that you found a fruity postal worker to say what you wanted him to say. The point is, I live in California. I know what it takes to deliver a letter in a big city--WITH ZIP CODES and censors etc. I can mail a letter from say Long Beach to Chatsworth, and a lot of the time it will not get there in one day. I know since I have done it. So saying, well it got on a plane and went there--that means little or nothing. Its what happens before and after that counts. And what you are proposing simply will not pass the reality test, in state. Forget going across the country. That is pure fantasy land. But, you spend a lot of time there.

Kirk, as I said, in my book I explain how I think the plot worked. I will match what I write there with any other author in the field as to precision and length. If you do not want to read my book, then fine. But don't blame me for that. If I do not mention a person, then its because I could not find any good information at the time I wrote that book to place him in the mosaic. That does not mean anyone else was not involved. Other people have different views of what happened. Now, you give Hunt an out by saying well maybe the whole Cord Meyer/LBJ thing was some kind of cover. But that is simply an assumption on your part based on one version of the story..Because St John Hunt told the LA Times on March 20, 2007 that the so called Big Event was originally scheduled for Miami, but it was LBJ, through Cord Meyer who transferred it to Dallas so he could coordinate "the security scene". (That detail is also in the Rolling Stone version of the story.) There are also two other players who have been left out: Antonio Veciana and a French marksman. To me these are also giveaways. First of all, the idea that Phillips would bring in Veciana has now been punctured by the work of John Newman. It looks today like Veciana was not being honest about his association with Phillips or the CIA. At Gary Aguilar's last seminar, Newman revealed that Veciana did not want to work with CIA, he only wanted to work with Army G-2. Also in the Rolling Stone version, Phillips also allegedly meets with Oswald in Mexico City according to Hunt. Again, this is highly unlikely for two reasons. Dan Hardway found out that Phillips was not in MC while Oswald was there. Secondly, at Gary's seminar, David Josephs showed that LHO in all probability was not in MC. As per the French gunman, whiz is apparently owed to the 1991 Men Who Killed Kennedy special. Or Henry Hurt's book. And this is what I mean, Hunt essentially grabbed and pulled at some popular strands in the literature. Not knowing that they were inaccurate. He then attached other hard to fathom tangents like Meyer and LBJ, who Kirk wants to write off, but St John says are integral. And let us not forget, this version is not the same as the very first one. So what is it worth? To me, at worst its a chimera. At best, its a gift to his son before Howard passed on. But as far as having any forensic value in solving the JFK case, to me it simply has none.

That story by Myers is hilarious. Sort of like Davey finding that postal worker who said, "Heck yeah, we can deliver a package 700 miles and have the guy get it within 12 hours. Even without zip codes. Do it all the time." Davey, why not ask DM about the extra wallet? He is still trying to find an excuse for that one. Or better yet, how about the Single Bullet Fact.

WN: IMO, it is hard not to come to the conclusion that McCord and Hunt infiltrated the Plumbers and although ostensibly working for CREEP, were actually really working for the CIA. The last chapter of Hougan's watershed book is a very precise and insightful analysis of the final Watergate break in. No one had ever done that before. It is difficult to escape the conclusion that the entry was sabotaged. I won't go into all the specifics, but Hougan makes a solid case for that tenet. As per Woodward, I think that its pretty clear today that he was and is an establishment guy who was close to both the CIA and the Pentagon. I also have concluded that he is still prevaricating about the identity of Deep Throat. Just read the appendix to the book by the late Pat Gray (finished by his son) entitled In Nixon's Web.

I would disagree with Larry on a couple of points. Unless you read Shane O'Sullivan's new book on Watergate, you will not know how close Hunt was to Helms. I was not aware of that. I mean, how many CIA officers are close to both of the longest serving directors at that time? Secondly, if you read Jim Hougan's landmark book on Watergate Secret Agenda, you will get a whole new take on that caper, quite different than the traditional Woodward/Bernstein version. Once you read that, then the shenanigans by Hunt and McCord do not seem to be what they appear. But the fact that the two men lied about knowing each other before CREEP is important. This is why Hougan begins his book with a chapter called "Of Hunt and McCord". And he ends it with the final break in.
