Tony Austin
Hi folks, I am currently doing general research into the subject of Jack Ruby. I would be grateful if any members of the forum could advise me of any particular books, magazines, articles or documentaries that they would recommend as providing accurate, interesting and insightful informative on this subject. All suggetions welcome, I would rather have too much information than too little. Thanks for any help in this matter, Regards Tony

J. Raymond Carroll
I would be grateful if any members of the forum could advise me of any particular books, magazines, articles or documentaries that they would recommend I am sure you have searched AMazon and found all the books on Ruby, but Seth Kantor's book is indispensable, and Melvin Belli's book is worth a look. You will find bits and pieces about Ruby in many assassination books. For example, There are two chapters in THE TRUTH ABOUT THE ASSASSINATION by Charles Roberts, published in 1967. THe important Ruby interview in which he says the truth will not be allowed to come aboveboard is included in one segment of The Men WHo Killed Kennedy:

Another important person to consider, at least in Dallas, is John B Wilson, Jr. Wilson was Frank Ferraro's attorney and Wilson was interviewed by the FBI report dated Jan. 16, 1964. Commission Document 302 - FBI Clements Report of 17 Jan 1964 re: Jack Ruby/Oswald/Civil Rights http://www.maryferrell.org/mffweb/archive/viewer/showDoc.do?docId=10703&relPageId=63 Wilson had some interesting things to say about the incident between Ruby and Ferraro, mainly from a conversation he had with Ferraro. Such as, that he was bleeding so much he felt Ruby had used brass knuckles, and that the Dallas Police were not reticent about arresting Ferraro, but were "extremely reluctant to do anything about Ruby." Wilson, as a matter of fact was the one who broke up the fight, at the Lasso Bar.
Guest Tom Scully
Lee and Robert, what concerns me here is the meaning of AJ Weberman's description. I wish I could read the source or it, [FBI 44-1639-169] and it is unclear from Weberman if that FBI document even includes the reference to the New Haven bus driver. From Weberman's Nodule 33, taken from the longer quote in my last post.: When Ferrara checked into the hospital he used the name Ferraro. A day after Jack shot OSWALD, the FBI questioned Ferrara in New Haven, Connecticut where he worked as a bus driver. He told them he had worked for Ruby as a "handyman." Weberman is not clearly saying whether or not the FBI confirmed that the actual name of the man given at the hospital after he was assaulted by Jack Ruby in Sept., 1962, was Ferraro, or Ferrara. Francesco Ferrara, on trial in New Haven federal court for handling some of $4 million worth of stolen Canadian bonds, according to a Hartford Courant report on 14 Jan., 1960, was 58 years old. An 5 Aug., 1964 Hartford Courant report states that Ferrara had been paroled from a federal prison after serving his Bond theft sentence on 1 May, 1963. He was described as being incarcerated again forviolating his parole by visiting casinos in Santo Domingo San Juan and Lucayan Beach in the Bahamas. A Social Security death index search comes up with this likely result, the ages matches the 1960 newspaper description as does the state of issue, Massachusetts, since Francesco was a Boston race wire publisher. http://ssdi.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/ssdi.cgi FERRARA, FRANCESCO 17 Sep 1901 Mar 1973 71 89450 (Incline Village, Washoe, NV) Massachusetts So, unless we get more information, Jack Ruby's former employee, roommate, and victim is one Frank Richard Ferraro or Ferrara, confirmed by an FBI agent to have been driving a bus in New Haven, CT in late 1963 or in early 1964. On edit, Ferraro it is.: http://www.history-matters.com/archive/jfk/wc/wcvols/wh23/html/WH_Vol23_0017b.htm Edited October 28, 2010 by Tom Scully
Jim Root
Tony Might suggest you read the transcript of the man who administered Ruby's lie detector test for the Warren Commission. He was questioned twice, once by the Warren Commission attorneys and I believe by an attorney for the HSCA. They both questioned the man about an annomally that appears on the printed test record that was not noted with an explanation at the time of the test (a movement by Ruby was not reported and written on the paper feed as was done when Ruby made other movements during the test, at least that was the conclusion made by the attorneys to explain it). If you find it, it may lead you to an interesting place. Have fun Jim root
Guest Tom Scully
The street address, 53 Parmelee New Haven, in the FBI report of 26 November, 1963 displayed in my last post, led me to Frank Ferraro's brother Edward, and their family record in the 1930 US Census. Their father was Pasquale, proprietor of a candy store, Frank is represented as "Francis R." age 7, just above Edward W., the youngest. Well, I certainly see your point about Weberman's quote regarding Ferrara using the name Ferraro, but I really think these are definitely two different people. At NARA there are 14 hits under Ferraro and 4 under Ferrara..... Ferrara, at least in 1958 was living in a hotel in Chicago... He ties in with the Chicago mob, one document lists Trafficante in the subject line. In November 1963, Ferraro was living in Miami, Florida....
