Rob Couteau
I created a family tree for McCord on ancestry com, based on the data we have on his parents and spouse, just to see what would come up. There are four separate trees that include him, and at least one appears to be created by someone in his family. This one, titled "Berry/Jones/Quin/Kennon/West Family Tree," includes a photo of MCord from his high school yearbook. They also cite "The Encyclopedia of American Intelligence and Espionage. From the Revolutionary War to the present," by G.J.A. O'Toole. Each tree lists his date of death. I am going to contact the tree administrators to see what they say. The other trees are: McCord Jr. Family Tree, Kathie's Musselwhite Family Tree, ZJ Tree. (The one I created is called James W McCord Jr.)
Pat Speer
Does this mean my autographed copy of McCord's book has gone up in value? Wait, I have an autographed copy of Specter's memoirs as well. And Nixon's memoirs. And heck, come to think of it, I have an autographed copy of Bringer's book as well. Is he still alive? All gallows humor aside... You don't have to be a "researcher" to conclude McCord's loyalty was to the CIA, and not Nixon. That is the theme of his book. He was willing to fall on the sword, but was horrified to find both that the justice department was helping Nixon cover up his involvement in Watergate (people seem to forget this part), and that Nixon was trying to pin the break-in on the agency. That was too much for McCord who, much as today's whistle-blowers whose loyalty is to institutions and not Trump (thank God), said enough's enough, and, in the fashion of Mack the Turtle in Seuss' classic Yertle the Turtle, burped...and brought the wanna-be King of all that he sees to meet his destiny...face down in the mud. James DiEugenio
You have that book of McCord's? It is not easy to get. And I heard he comes off as a real rightwing nut in it.

Methinks McCord was Sheffield Edwards' "Mr. Wolf" (from Pulp Fiction). He goes out and tidy's up boo-boos for the CIA (or any other customer) when they get clumsy. Tracing his whereabouts with that in mind and analyizing the results of his actions could lead to some interesting conclusions. For instance, filleting Nixon et al benefits whom? He was alleged to be all over the Frank Olson death with the NYPD making sure they concluded it was suicide. Do you know whether he is lurking around in the RFKA or is that what you're asking? I had read years ago about Maheu supposedly "leaving" the CIA to form his own private detective agency, then becoming Howard Hughes head of security. If I remember right. Then more recently in Lisa Pease "A Lie Too Big To Fail" of Maheu having employed Cesar at Bel Air Patrol in LA prior to his brief employment at Ace Security where he "escorted" RFK through the pantry. I'd never read about the McCord - Maheu connection Rob alluded to. Edited March 23, 2019 by Ron Bulman

The source is Uncle Malcom via Bart Kamp on the other thread. Don't know how to link just the post here so I'll bump it there.

In Michigan, no less than eight public university libraries have "A Piece of Tape" (McCord's book) to lend to anyone with a MelCat card.

Rob Couteau
Jim, Someone at wiki must have just spotted your article on McCord; their entry now includes his death. The history of the page includes this: "1 April 2019 Infrogmation talk contribs 8,548 bytes+118 Apparently he died in June 2017, age 92 https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/181059465/james-walter-mccord undo". BTW, a great piece of work; you managed to condense all the essentials and make it flow smoothly. And with a nicely shaped and a deserved homage to Jim Hougan's research.
