Very interesting stuff, Bill.  Thanks for posting this.

I need to learn more about corn, and other food, allergies.

(Never studied the subject in medical school!)

W - sorry to hear about your daughter.

You might be interested in these details.

I was diagnosed by a friend who was a nurse.  I had gone to a meeting at work and after there was a buffet.  On it there was shrimp and I drank a coke.  I then felt like I had drank a case of beer (not that I ever have) - no energy and cloudy thinking.  When I told my nurse friend about this she said 'You have food allergies go get tested'.

I was working in KC at the time (mid 80s).  It turned out that the best or one of the best food allergy clinics was in Independence Mo.  People were flying in from all parts of the US for testing.

From memory (long time ago now):

day 1 - interview w doctor & blood tests

day 2 - grid of tiny injections of allergens on my back to provoke reactions on skin & observational tests - after injection the lab assistants would observe behavior

day 3 - meeting w doctor to go over results and treatment plan.  Interesting to me that the diagnosis was based on 3 tests - blood, skin grid, observations

* which foods to eliminate for 6 weeks - corn, potatoes, beef, coffee in my case

* 4 day rotation diet details and tips on how to make it work

* keep diary of reactions to what you eat on diet - how I found out shrimp was causing a reaction

I think that if someone suspects food allergies they might be able to self-diagnose by going on the 4-day rotation diet and keeping a diary of how they feel after eating or drinking a beverage.

I do know from personal experience - eliminating corn from your diet for 6 weeks will result in weight loss.    Following the 4-day plan also forces cutting down on carbs -  rice only every 4 days for example - and an exploration of all the different vegetables from around the world in the supermarket.  But for me, at the time I also wasn't eating bread or rice.

The most surprising information for me was that the immune system 'forgets' the food allergen if it doesn't see it for 6 weeks.

Trump Shares Crude Sexual Remark About Kamala Harris

August 28, 2024 at 5:39 pm EDT By Taegan Goddard

“Donald Trump used his social-media website on Wednesday to amplify a crude remark about Vice President Kamala Harris that suggested Ms. Harris traded sexual favors to help her political career,” the New York Times reports.

“The post, by another user on Truth Social, was an image of Ms. Harris and Hillary Clinton, Mr. Trump’s opponent in 2016. The text read: ‘Funny how blowjobs impacted both their careers differently.'”

“Mr. Trump’s repost was the second time in 10 days that the former president shared content from his personal account making sexually oriented attacks on Ms. Harris.”

Cemetery official declined to press charges fearing retaliation from Trump fans: Haberman

By Daniel Hampton August 28, 2024

https://www.rawstory.com/arlington-cemetery-donald-trump-2669094457/

“An official at Arlington National Cemetery who filed an incident report over a reported dust-up with staffers of the Trump campaign declined to press charges because she feared MAGA supporters may come after her.”

This is mob stuff.

And at some point, we, as a society, are going to have to confront it in an organized way.

Grand Jury Indicts Trump Again for J6: If He Loses ‘He’s Going to Jail,’ Expert Predicts

By David Badash August 27, 2024

https://www.thenewcivilrightsmovement.com/2024/08/grand-jury-indicts-trump-again-for-j6-if-he-loses-hes-going-to-jail-expert-predicts/

“A Washington, D.C. grand jury has handed up a superseding indictment against Donald Trump in Special Counsel Jack Smith’s prosecution of the ex-president for election subversion. The indictment, legal experts say, is in response to the U.S. Supreme Court’s ruling granting presidents broad immunity for official acts, and appears to remove any narratives or evidence that might be construed as falling under that grant.”

“Effectively, even without the evidence the Supreme Court might have said falls under its new presidential immunity definition, a new grand jury reached the same conclusion as the original one did on which charges to approve.”

Two different grand juries, same conclusion.

How many trials, grand juries, indictments, fines are we going to have endure before this orange clown gets fitted for the matching orange jumpsuit he so richly deserves?

I just thought of that. You won't be able to see him. He'll be in camouflage, kind of like a sniper in a ghillie suit.

If the Georgia case gets thrown out,it won't necessarily be because Fani Willis had an affair with her fellow prosecutor  in the case. It will be because Trump's attorneys will contest that she prejudiced the trial when she grandstanded in a  Historic Black Church saying that the criticism of her and Nathan Wade was "racially motivated."

This woman had the biggest career break of her life getting this case, and it was a slam dunk with a smoking gun tape. And she couldn't  keep herself from charges of improper conduct. First with the relationship, whether I care or not. But then arrogantly publicly claiming the opposition calling it on her as racial discrimination in a public forum.

However what seems so arbitrary about it is, at first they were discussing just taking Willis off the case ("take the load of Fani!")  and appointing a new Prosecutor. Now it seems we've crossed that bridge and if she's taken off the case, the case is thrown out!  Just as in the case of moving a venue or the appointment of a  judge to hear the case. It often seems so arbitrary, and yet it can be so critical!

He explained how my immune system mis-recognized corn as an invader and was reacting by producing antibodies to fight it.  And that counterintuitively in this process a craving for corn (Fritos) was also produced.

Interesting, going against your immune system!

I was told with my liver, that Lemonade would be good for me. Now it's the only thing I have a food addiction to!

I cut out ice cream 10 years ago. I use to eat a half gallon in 3 sittings, this incidentally at my old steady weight 35 lbs. ago. Then my blood sugar went too high and I stopped altogether. I lost about 5 lbs.!

Interesting, I've never had a food allergy i knew of. But there are so many people with allergies to peanuts. I've always thought there might be something with peanuts because, have you ever had a "peanut burp"? That is the worst! It can  trigger  a sort of shallow throw up that i always suppress, but end up with a terrible taste in my mouth that I swallow! heh!

i use to buy perfectly good viagra from India at 10 cents on the dollar. Now that's pretty common.

I'm sure there are places in the world that  you get GLP 1 drugs at a considerable discount, or will be soon.

I understand you just have no craving for food or alcohol! You eat not even half of what you used to eat, mostly just to eat!

*****

Gosh that Gil is such a Trump shill!  The way he ceased on the Trump visit to Arlington! And he seems so clueless about Trump's past statements about servicemen!

And then the altercation and Trump's being reprimanded for his obvious cynical politicizing.

Do you think Gil is just so isolated, he's never heard what Trump for example said about John Mc Cain and our warriors  being "losers"?   Will he see the headlines about the altercation at Arlington and dismiss it  as the work of "Operation Mockingbird"!

Some people here are really far gone!

Two columnists in the Wall Street Journal today, one of whom is Karl Rove, declared that the September 10 debate between Harris and Trump could decide the election since neither right now has an outright advantage.

A day after the FBI Director received my recent letter about protecting Kamala in this debate from Russian microwave technology, my profile on Linked-In got 17 hits. I read into this that the letter and my attached article were being circulated to the highest FBI officials and perhaps to other intelligence agencies. In my five-page article I pay homage to Ron Bulman and W. Niederhut for giving me the insight here for doing the research showing the Russian microwave connection.
