I understand that there was another defector (Robert Webster) right around the time Ozzy left for Russia and theory has it that they were in touch with each other during that time, are there any documents to substantiate this?

Furthermore, what ever became of Webster?

Robert Edward Webster was a plastics technician who worked for the Rand Development Corporation. He disappeared after the American National Exhibition in Moscow during 1959. He showed up a month later saying that he had renounced his United States citizenship and had been granted Soviet citizenship.

He gave U.S. Consul General Richard E. Snyder a signed statement saying that the decision to stay and work in the Soviet Union was his alone. He was then interviewed by Snyder and Dr. H.J. Rand and told them that he had made arrangements so his wife and two kids in the U.S. would be taken care of.

Some time later, Rand returned to the Soviet Union wanting to see Webster. They met in the offices of the Soviet Police Department. Rand said Webster looked emotionally drained.

Three years later, Webster wanted to return to the United States. There was embassy wrangling regarding passports and the like and he returned to the U.S. within days.

If I remember correctly, Penn Jones suggested that there might be a connection between Webster and Marina Oswald. I can't recall the details off hand but maybe another forum member can fill in the blanks there.

Dave Weaver certainly did a good job as far as posting the link references, they are certainly illuminating. I for one have alway's been intrigued with the 'body of information' flowing from Mother Russia since the early day's of my interest in the JFK saga, but especially with the release of Oleg Nechiporenko's book as well as Mailer's. In hindsight, it may appear to some that 'all the usual suspects' were still hanging around offering their 'insight's' [see Priscilla McMillan]. If I were to offer a voice in the wilderness type of admonition, it would be that Hal Verb basically is the only person interested in anything other than 'status quo commentary' when it comes to 'the aforementioned activities in Russia.' It's like reading 'Ruth Paine's Garage,' yes very insightful and worth a look, until you realize that Mrs Pain was requesting info on LHO six years before the assassination. Of course, when such garbage as the above tome becomes material for 'inquirin mind's' you get a basic idea of 'what's wrong with this picture.'

According to an endnote in James DiEugenio's Destiny Betrayed, "...researcher Michael Levy has unearthed a Navy Department document which reports that Ruth Paine was requesting information about the family of Lee Harvey Oswald in 1957."[1] It appears this is an area requiring additional research.

Been fun working on those reports Dave lol (even had to title them "Boylan/Rep -1, 2, 3 etc). Its more reading and reading which is right up my alley. Back on topic though, Simpich had an interesting bit on USAF and Webster:

Here's what I was wondering about on the other thread.  I can't find my original edition of DB, just the updated one, guess I need to read the references to Ruth in it.

A google search of Michael Levy JFK brings up Dr. Michael Levy of Parkland/Trauma Room One, a discussion mentioning him in Jim's book back in 2006 and this which I still can't read when enlarged.

The relationship between Marina and Webster was purely sexual. Normal Mailer's book on Oswald stated that Marina was involved in prostitution ring utilizing the Leningrad Hotel and deal with foreigners. According to the defector study of Webster, Webster was living at the Leningrad Hotel for one month. Since Webster was a resident of the Leningrad Hotel for a month and Marina utilizing the Leningrad Hotel for a prostitution ring and dealing with foreigners, it is safe to say that Marina and Webster met in the Leningrad Hotel and had sexual activities.
