I have been an historian for nearly thirty years; for the last twenty years I have been a professor at the USAF's Air War College where I specialize in aviation history and Air Force doctrine. I also teach at a couple of the local universities in the evening, which allows me to stay in touch with the real world of civilians.

Evening all <_<

Jim Riley; aged 40; partly balding; two little, adorable kids

I run an educational publishing business - tutor2u - which also has a web site (www.tutor2u.net). We've focused so far on subjects like Economics & Business Studies. And now we are moving into ICT, Politics and English - which should be great fun. We'd do History and other subjects if only we could find someone who wanted to work with us to publish materials!

Before the current job, I was a director of travel group (Thomson Travel Group plc) running their global mergers and acquisitions department. And before that I was a director of corporate finance at a firm of accountants - PricewaterhouseCoopers in London and Leeds. An accountant by profession, I'm really enjoying getting to know something about the UK and international education sector. I get many calls each day from teachers - I find its best to simply listen!

Nice to meet you all

Jim

Hello,

My name is Peter Jones I work in Community Mental Health with Older Adults and have linked to Spartacus at our site, which may be of interest to this community?

Hodges' Health Career - Care Domains - Model (h2cm)

is a health and social care model, with much wider and universal applications, developed in the UK by Brian E Hodges:

http://www.p-jones.demon.co.uk/

h2cm can help map health, social care and other issues, problems AND solutions, taking a situated and multi-contextual view across four knowledge domains:

* Interpersonal;

* Sociological;

* Empirical;

* Political (Autonomy).

I am revising our links creating four pages - one per care domain.

For example - Sociological links are at:

Thanks for this space...

Witold (Veetold) Kiezun, jr., San Diego, CA. I have master's degree in information systems and work in this field for past 15 years. My relatively recent interest is in creating educational websites dedicated to lesser known (here in the US) aspects of WWII. I am strongly committed to the idea of 'opening up' (digitizing and making available) the vast collections of artifacts locked up in the storage rooms of so many museums and archives. I am also interested in balancing California state public schooling history curriculum with the material included in my websites.

One of my favorite educational website is: Eternal Egypt

My name is Julia - I "go by" the name Lily Lighto as a tongue-in-cheek reference to the movie "Donnie Darko". I will have my own website soon, incorporating elements of all of the items listed below - pretty eclectic, huh?

I currently live in Seattle WA USA - and for the past 35 years have made an informal study of comparative world religions; I understand the basics of Physics as made very clear to me in Stephen Hawking's book: "A Brief History of Time" and Fred Alan Wolf's "Parallel Unverses" - I am studying metaphysics; and I teach classes in "Magickal Principles" with a Celtic Magick focus. I have always been drawn to and had good feeling about the UK - Wales in particular, and I have Scots, Welsh and Irish blood

I write movie reviews (not for profit, rather for 'profundity' and to educate people in the metaphysical principles that there ARE no ACCIDENTS or coincidences)- even though movies are specifically written to make a certain point, people are drawn to the various elements or thematic threads, thus they should THINK about what they see and look for the "traces" in their own lives - there could be a message there for them personally which they can apply to their own lives...

I don't have a string of letters behind my name (YET!), but am working towards a PhD in Metaphysics - I've studied philosophy, sociology, cultural anthropology, psychology, and Comparative World Religions ( believe me when I say that THAT is really more of a search for the "grail' than most people realize!); I AM however an ordained minister (Priestess) in the "Church of Spiritual Humanism"...I simply cannot support 'factionism' and "devisiveness' in MY world.

Lorenzo de Medici is one of my heroes, specifically because it was HE who was the first 'humanist' in the modern era and he supported the proliferation of the ARTS and of LEARNING and I consider him to be the "godfather'" of the Renaissance.

Some of my OTHER heroes are:

Alexander the Great, Napoleon, Peter the Great, Genghis Kahn, Julius Caesar - all military geniuses - whose tactices and strategies COULD be adapted and applied to the current "spiritual battle" RAGING on the face of this Earth.

Benjamin Disraeli, Winston Churchill, Thomas Jefferson, John Adams, John F. Kennedy as STATESMEN (as opposed to the concept of "politicians").

I don't believe in the concept of "blind patriotism" - ALWAYS in the name of PEACE has the blood been shed of ALL of the "Best and Brightest" of our youth who, being whipped into a patriotic frenzy or as a call to "being one of the "FAITHFUL," find that it is NEITHER patriotic NOR being "faithful" to one's "GOD" - I believe it is just plain stupid - to KILL in the name of PEACE!

Other historical figures, insofar as there is any accurately documented information available:

Marcus Aurelius - as a wise and just man who left several "scholarly" records behind for us to study and to learn from - I read a compilation of his works when I was 11 years old - it's STILL common sense and VALID today!

Jesus Christ's life and His death (as presented, NOT ONLY in the synoptic gospels, but as foretold of in the Old Testament) as a template for living a moral life; not just as a once-a-week "feel good fix" opiate of the masses.

Mohammed as a "prophet of the ideal of unification" bringing about peace between many different "warring" factors. Islam itself is NOT the enemy...

Mohandas Ghandi as a "leader and advocate" of PEACEFUL resolutions to problems.

If you share any of these interests or have additional information which would shed MORE light upon these lives and provide insight into the ACTIONS and the SPIRIT of the people whom I have listed, I would LOVE to hear from you. I enjoy a good debate, but will not get drawn into "arguments," as I am always willing to see theother person's point of view...

Denis Diderot said that: "Ignorance is less remote from truth than prejudice," and there was an anonymous saying I recently heard/read: "Thinking is not KNOWING as Looking is NOT seeing..."

I hope to KNOW and to SEE...to always continue LEARN and to THINK and to apply REASON to my actions and motivations toward my OWN life and my INTER-actions with others.

My most recent motto is:

"Do as much as you can, for whomever you can, for as LONG as you can, while you can."

Life is fleeting, but a peaceful legacy CAN LIVE FOREVER!

Brightest Blessings upon all!

My name is Doug Horne. I am an American citizen who served on the President John F. Kennedy Assassination Records Review Board (ARRB) for the final 3 out of its 4 years of existence, from August 1995 through September 1998. The purpose of the ARRB was to identify, locate, and engineer the declassification of all records reasonably (or "arguably") related to the assassination of JFK, so that subject records could be placed in a special collection in the U.S. National Archives open to the public. I served on the ARRB's Military Records Team, and eventually became the head of this small team of analysts; I was "Chief Analyst for Military Records" from April 1997 through September 1998. My personal involvement was in locating and arranging for the declassification of military and diplomatic records related primarily to Cuba and Vietnam policy, and in a host of medical issues related to the autopsy of President Kennedy. The ARRB staff took the depositions of 10 individuals who either participated in the autopsy, or who developed autopsy photography. The Review Board staff also conducted numerous unsworn interviews of autopsy witnesses, embalmers, and persons involved in photography related to the autopsy. I was present at all 10 autopsy-related depositions, and served as principal research assistant (and aide) to the General Counsel during these evolutions. I conducted most of the unsworn medical witness interviews, and was present at the others. I also served as the direct ARRB liaison with the Kodak company in Rochester, New York regarding (1) digital preservation and enhancement of the existing autopsy images, and (2) an authenticity study of the Zapruder film. Both areas of work were performed "pro bono," or free of charge, for the ARRB by Kodak as a public service. Personal background: I graduated Cum Laude from The Ohio State University in 1974 with a B.A. in History, served on active duty for 10 years in the U.S. Navy as a Surface Line Officer, and then served an additional 10 years as a Federal Civilian in support of a U.S. Navy program in the Pacific prior to reporting to the ARRB in 1995. I am from a very middle-class, mainstream background, and yet, have come to the inescapable conclusion that JFK was killed by a conspiracy, that there was a major government coverup of the medical evidence in the JFK assassination, and that the coverup was most likely not a benign one. I have been driven to these conclusions by the weight of the empirical evidence, by the data itself...not by a "psychological need" to "believe in a conspiracy." I am prepared to answer specific questions about evidence in the medical arena or the military records arena, to the extent that my knowledge and experience base allows me to. If I do not have an answer to a question, I will say so. If I have an opinion about what various debatable facts mean, I will express that opinion, and will try to differentiate between the data I am using and my own interpretation of it. Questions will be sent to me via the administrators.

Welcome to Doug...who is highly thought of among JFK researchers for

bringing impartiality to the JFK records review process, and refusing to

go along with the ongoing coverup. Perhaps he can answer appropriate

questions on this fine forum
