A large clump of people were herded from the Capitol and arrested on the Capital lawns. Of that large number (I think about 600), two were armed, including the aforementioned Christopher Alberts. No discarded firearms were found. Another 300 1/6'ers or so have been arrested since, and one has been charged with being armed that day. We can say without equivocation, that at least three 1/6'ers rioters were armed. We can say with some certainty, due to the federal superseding indictments, that none of the 100 or so Proud Boys or Oath Keepers were armed that day. Likely, the expression "an armed mob stormed the Capitol" is intentional sensational hyperbole. The 1/6 rioters almost entirely unarmed, and Capital Police stood down rather quickly. There was also no chance at all of this mob overturning the federal government. As I say, the 1/6 story gets fishier and fishier, and I smell a rat! Can't we just let this worst most violent attack on our Congress and highest democracy symbolic U.S. Government building go? Steve Thomas Putin has started conscripting Ukrainian men in those territories to fight against Zelensky's forces. The world shall see how that works out.
