As far as the French authorities; it might be a case of protecting sources and methods, plus a case of bureaucratic intransigence. I once wrote to the French National Archives asking for a list of the people who had stood trial with Jean-Rene Souetre in December, 1961. I'm interested I this too as I would love too know what they know about Henri Slebodia or whatever his name was then when he was arrested about the same time with Souetre....
