  1. Which is exactly why what Morley did is irresponsible. You don't say you have proof when all you have are suspicions.
  2. Newsweek is wrong. If Morley had such a document, that would be the first thing he would have shown. He speculates that the Joannides documents will prove his theory of an "Oswald Operation." They will do no such thing as they have already been seen by the ARRB who found nothing. If and when the documents are released, he will search through them for a word or phrase he can use to justify his claims and couple that with the witnesses he claims to have (but has not presented yet). He will then have his manufactured "truth" and can continue to write books and articles for years and call himself the "man who solved the assassination." That is my take on what Morley is doing.
  3. They do not have the documents and have not seen them. Morley is merely making assumptions.

  5. I think Myers has lost patience with the conspiracy people and I can understand it and empathize with it. Does it diminish his arguments when he responds to these people in a way they take offense to? Perhaps, but a person can only take so much. There was absolutely no reason for anyone to post some of the remarks that certain individuals did after John's death. If you don't like the person, just don't say anything. That's what I did when Mark Lane died for example.

  8. I was not the one "slamming" Tanenbaum in this instance-Hardway (who is not on my "side" BTW) was.
  9. No, the incident could not have happened as Tanenbaum said it did. Theorists have correctly pointed out that Phillips did make inconsistent statements to the HSCA. That is why he was called back for a second time to clarify his remarks. I discuss this here: 26. “Only on Two Occasions Did I Think That I Was Taken” ~ W. Tracy Parnell (wtracyparnell.blogspot.com)
  10. Dan Hardway: "For the past few years Robert Tanenbaum has been telling a fascinating tale of a 1976 encounter with David Atlee Phillips. I first heard his presentation at Duquesne University’s Wecht Institute’s Passing the Torch Conference in October, 2013. He told the story with great detail, drama and flourish." Unfortunately for Tanenbaum, there is no evidence that this encounter actually occurred as Hardway explains: Real Hillbilly Views: The Prosecutor's Tale
  11. Jonathan is correct. CTs promoting this should instead leave it in the same bin with the 3 Tramps. Check out the graphic on this page comparing various photos of UM by Jerry Organ: The Umbrella Man (ronaldecker.com) As I recall, Witt stated that the umbrella he showed the HSCA was the one he had on the day of the assassination to the best of his knowledge. He left open the possibility that it was not. As far as what he remembered from the assassination, we know witnesses are inaccurate with their remembrances to varying degrees. Witt was a witness like any other trying to recall as best he could the events from over a decade before. He undoubtedly was not right about everything, but that fact doesn't require a sinister motive on his part.
  12. In addition to DVP's fine site, those interested in the Ruth Paine debate should check out my 17-part series: W. Tracy Parnell: The Assassination and Mrs. Paine (wtracyparnell.blogspot.com) Also see Greg Doudna's excellent series of posts here at EF which may be accessed through the following link: Greg Doudna's Ruth Paine Archive ~ W. Tracy Parnell (wtracyparnell.blogspot.com) As for Max Good's comments, there is, of course, zero evidence that Joe Alesi is a "handler" for Ruth Paine. It could be that at age 91 (in 2023) Ruth will be glad to have Joe along to assist her and keep the crazies at bay. And the fact that Alesi worked for the Defense Investigative Service as an investigator for security clearances has nothing to do with anything. Good seems to understand this but chooses to mention it anyway for unknown reasons. BTW, Jim D incorrectly stated in an online discussion that Alesi worked for the Defense Intelligence Service, a claim he later backtracked on after he was called out on it.
  13. She isn't that type of person. I am sure she understands that Good was someone who got caught up in the conspiracy noise and his inaccurate film reflects that fact. But she knows the truth, so she is not overly concerned about the whole thing. But she is more tolerant than I would have been.
  14. I think I have a very reasonable explanation. Swift (rightly or wrongly) became suspicious of ProNica. When he became aware of the allegations of people like Wheaton, he conflated these allegations with his suspicions and came up with the idea that ProNica was doing no real work but was instead a CIA front. Now, ProNica, as I understand it, was not running any charity operations themselves but simply funding the work in Nicaragua. Is it possible that some of the operations they funded were coopted by unscrupulous individuals? Certainly. But it is another thing to claim that ProNica was doing "nothing." In this day and age, I believe that type of obvious fraud by a charity would be very difficult to get away with. One of the other things I find difficult to believe in the Wheaton story is that CIA assets (allegedly Ruth and others) would gather intelligence in a completely overt manner as described by Wheaton and others. That doesn't make any sense to me. For those who haven't seen it: The Assassination and Mrs. Paine-Ruth Spied in Nicaragua? ~ W. Tracy Parnell (wtracyparnell.blogspot.com)
  15. Was Swift the anonymous man in the Nicaragua section of the film or are they separate individuals?

  17. I don't have the book so I don't know. He is deceased. He may have indeed told Fonzi that. My argument is that if he had any specific information pointing to Phillips, I'm sure he would have used it.
  18. Chapter 23 of The Bishop Hoax is now online: https://wtracyparnell.blogspot.com/p/23-single-mans-monomania.html Highlights: Fonzi's 1980 article "Who Killed JFK?" draws critical reaction from peers and others in the know.
