Newsweek: JFK Assassination Conspiracy Theory Debunked by New Gunshot Study

Quote

One long-held and famous conspiracy theory holds that JFK was shot by a second gunman from a grassy knoll. While the flaws of this theory have already been pointed out by some, a new study published in the journal Heliyon may finally put the idea to rest.

Supporters of this theory tend to use the infamous Zapruder film—which captured the killing—to bolster their claim, pointing to the fact that Kennedy's head moves in a backward and leftward motion after the bullet's impact, apparent proof that he was shot from the front as well as from behind (by Oswald).

But new analysis of the Zapruder footage conducted by Nicholas Nalli from I.M. Systems Group shows that JFK’s reactions after being shot are physically consistent with the results of the official autopsy findings: that he was killed by a gunshot to the back of the head, fired from a high-energy Carcano rifle (the one used by Oswald) located in the vicinity of the Texas School Book Depository.

It doesn't necessarily have to be from the literal grassy knoll. Secondly, anyone who asks me to defy logic and believe that the fatal shot was from behind, I promptly exit the discussion. Thiursdly, we do have evidence of shots of some kind from that area and we also have, within that group, Ed Hoffman's account (http://www.jfklancer.com/catalog/ed_hoffman/authors.html). Andrew also nails it on the head. This is a sad waste of time. It is best to conclude that JFK was hit from multiple (certainly more than one) directions.

They somehow time these ‘scientific’ studies right before major JFK news that might embarrass the govt.

Just explain to me how the majority of witnesses said the last two shots came right on top of each other - from a rifle that requires at least 2.3 seconds to cycle - and I’ll look at your latest ‘case closed’ BS.

I've read David Mantiks book on the head shots three times and an actual examination of x rays by an independent observer rings truer than any mathematical theories. One thing I learned from attending hundreds of autopsies in Detroit is that bullets often ignore theories and do what they prefer to do. The Zapruder film? Of minor value at best.

Evan:

Are you the guy I quote at the end of my Tippit article from Harry Livingstone's book?

Yes, it's me I joined Detroit PD in 1969 and if an officer called for help all other units were instructed stay off the radio until the situation was resolved. I suspect very few Dallas coppers shed a tear for JFK but the murder of an officer took priority over everything else. I remember getting called in on my day off because a copper in my precinct had been murdered  and the killer was in the wind. My wife asked me if I was going to get paid for this and I told her I wouldn't even ask. A friend had been murdered and I'd be back when the killer in jail or in the ground AND I was on  the  job when the second cop killer in the history of Detroit PD was taken alive.

I'm sure they expected the Oswald would never make it to jail!.

BTW, does anyone know where the actual study is located?

Interesting the author is a senior research scientist at NOAA.  Given he has to know some physics, but a sudden film analysis expert on the case?
