It's just another stunt to pacify their rapidly dwindling base. It obviously can't go anywhere because the Sane People are in charge of the White House and Senate. The GOP has fully embraced the pro wrestling approach to politics; everything is just spectacle, there's no actual substance there, nothing is real. They're also perfectly happy to be the heel in this bizzarro act of theater. However the reality is this: Republicans are facing an extinction-level event coming straight at them. Demographics are starting to really work against them, and no, I'm not talking about all those brown people and Mexicans they hate so much that might be crossing the border somewhere. By far the largest contingency in the GOP base is middle-aged and old bigoted white men. But as it turns out, these guys are kicking off at a spectacular rate; after Native American men, their life expectancy has dropped more than any other ethnic category, an entire year in 2022 alone. Contrast that with the 30 million more Gen Z voters that will be in the voting booth in 2024 as compared to 2016. And I can assure you with 100% confidence that those kids have got no use whatsoever for the BS and carnage they've watched MAGA bring upon this country.
