A Republican state legislator known for his outlandish and offensive statements is claiming that the FBI was behind the attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump. 

State Rep. Scott Bottoms (R-Colorado Springs) did not offer any evidence to support the claim, which he made last Sunday from the pulpit of his Church at Briargate, where he is the lead pastor. 

“I believe it’s the FBI,” Bottoms told parishioners. 

“I’m not talking about the Democratic Party,” Bottoms said. “I’m talking about the people that are controlling our country. The people that have been controlling the FBI, controlling the State Department.” 

Bottoms said the only reason the FBI plot didn’t kill Trump is because the former President is protected by God. 

“This is just the beginning,” Bottoms said. “They need that man dead.” 

Bottoms claimed, without evidence, that the November presidential election will not be held if Trump is not killed by then. 

“We’re not gonna have a presidential election,” Bottoms said. “If he’s still alive and he’s not in jail, we’re not gonna have an election.” 

In 2022, Bottoms told the Colorado Sun that the FBI “lured” the Jan. 6 insurrectionists into attacking the U.S. Capitol, in an interview where he also repeated QAnon conspiracy theories. 

During previous sermons at the Church at Briargate, Bottoms has said that Jewish Israelis held captive by Hamas should turn to Jesus to be saved and that the Palestinian people are a “made up thing” and a “terrorist organization.” 

In January 2024, Bottoms was reprimanded by the Democratic House speaker for calling fellow legislators “pedophiles.” 

Despite Bottoms’ extremism, he remains a close ally of Colorado Republican Party Chairman Dave Williams, who gathered with supporters at Bottoms’ church to watch his blowout GOP primary loss in Colorado’s 5th Congressional District on June 25.

Earlier I stated there were no witnesses to Oswald shooting.  In his WC testimony Brennan claimed he saw Oswald shooting, although he couldn't make a positive ID on 11/22/63.

@Niederhut: There are certain Elements in the USSS, FBI, Homeland Security etc. which are there to do very different things, from what this Agency's and Institutions are made for. Committing regicide for instance. 

@Varnell You are right. Nobody saw Oswald in that window. As I said earlier IMO: Brennan saw a standing shooter. To shoot in such position through a window in the TSTB is only possible when you are on the 7th floor of that building. The WC was brainwashing poor Brennan, he then claims the shooter was in the Oswald window. But guess what? Brennan never changed his statement that the shooter he saw was standing. Therefore the testimony of Brennan is a hybrid: Half brainwashing half what he really saw.  -- A composite of something physical impossible.

In addition to those searches, Crooks looked for public appearances scheduled for both Trump and Biden, according to The New York Times—ultimately landing on Trump’s Pennsylvania speech, which was held roughly 50 miles from his home. After zeroing in on the event, he reportedly searched for more detail on the rally.

This kind of unofficial drip feed of tendentious and apocryphal information is probably a misdirection.

In view of the grievous dereliction of duty by the Secret Service, tantamount to complicity in the attempted assassination, a proper independent public enquiry is necessary.

“Independent” in this context means independent of state agencies such as the Secret Service, the FBI and the Department of Homeland Security., since at least one state agency was apparently complicit in the crime.

So, in spite of the assassination attempt, you’re still indulging in the kind of vitriolic (or “stochastic” as you put it) rhetoric, which was undoubtedly a major factor in Trump being targeted for assassination.

I see where the Director of the Secret Service says that the buck stops with her and that she takes responsibility for the near assassination of Trump and the related fatality and injuries, but that she wouldn’t be resigning.

Is the message here that the Secret Service will do a better job next time and there will be a “bullseye” (as Biden put it)?

They have to get it right next time, because they'll have hell to pay if Trump becomes POTUS again.

    The typical profiles of our mass shooters?

    Do you know what the term "stochastic terrorism" refers to?

All these red herrings by you are (by definition) irrelevant to what I said about the grievous dereliction of duty by the Secret Service in facilitating the attempted assassination of Donald Trump.
