'Self-serving' North Dakota GOP boosts own meal allowance after axing free school lunch bill

By Brad Reed April 07, 2023

https://www.rawstory.com/self-serving-north-dakota-gop-boosted-their-own-meal-reimbursements-after-axing-school-lunch-bill/

“Republicans in North Dakota are facing criticism this week after they voted to boost their own budgets for meal reimbursements, even as they blocked an expansion of a free lunch program for low-income school students.

The Forum of Fargo-Moorhead reports that the Republican-dominated North Dakota Senate voted to ratify the boost to meal reimbursements for lawmakers and state workers just 10 days after the same institution narrowly blocked a bill that would have expanded the state's free lunch program.”

Way to go guys!

Unreal.  A Trump-appointed judge in Texas has overruled FDA approval of mifepristone, on the grounds that it is unsafe.

Now we have right wing Republican judges usurping the authority and expertise of medical professionals.

Goldman: Apparently  this committee is no longer focused on the so called dozens and dozens of fbi whistle blowers who were supposedly going to show some massive government conspiracy to attack on conservatives. 3 of them have already came in for transcribed interviews over a month ago. Where are those witnesses Mr. Chairman? Let's bring them in right here, so the American people can see for themselves what the entire basis for this subcommittee is.

And from Jordan and the Republican-silence. There will be no showdown!

Just like Taibbi won't release Musk's cherry picked twitter files!

Another incoherent rant from Don Jr

by Jason Weisberger Apr 8, 2023

https://boingboing.net/2023/04/08/another-incoherent-rant-from-don-jr.html

"He's (his indicted father) a declared candidate of the United States, but we're gonna prevent him from getting everything out there," he said while totally not being coked out of his brain. "He raised a lot of money because Americans understand just how insane that is, but ABC News is gonna make sure, and Disney probably on top of that with directive because we all know what's happening behind the scenes with these clowns is gonna make sure they limit that reach they limit that possibility they limit that speech again of a declared candidate the leader of the opposition party a former President of the United States."
"That's the America we're living in, folks, but they are the arbiters of what you can see at part of a press conference of a declared candidate," he added in his not-drug-fueled rant. "This is third-world nonsense. "Okay, they don't get to decide that that's an in-kind contribution to the Democrats."
Can some of our readers translate that gibberish for me, please? I do not speak Cocaine.”

Clarence Thomas’ benefactor collects Hitler memorabilia

@Benjamin Cole@Chris Barnard@John Cotter@Charles Blackmon
According to Harlan Crow, he collects such things because he "hates communism and fascism"

. . . In a series of tweets written on Saturday morning, sociotechnical researcher, Danah Boyd describes visiting Crow's home years ago while attending a meeting about the future of Democracy, during which she viewed his collection first-hand.

"I didn't know who Harlan Crow was at the time," says Boyd. "I was told he was a major GOP fundraiser . . . Years later, I still shudder thinking about the National Socialist uniform decorations in Harlan Crow's house. And the painting. And the book. And the statues. And the "antebellum" (pro slavery) artifacts. I'm glad others are questioning the acceptability of those materials."

So, in light of Harlan Crow's collection of N-AZI memorabilia, can we approach the relevance of current events to the Kennedy assassination in Crow's home town from this angle?

That would be Harlan, son of Trammell, developer of the Dallas Trade Mart, and close friends and colleagues with among others, Clint Murchison who did business with SS Otto Skorzeny.  Does that work?  Harlan, who lavished hospitality on MAGA stalwart and 2020 coup conspirator Ginni Thomas whose husband is entering his third decade on the Supreme Court, known for rulings in lockstep with Ginni's extreme wing of the GOP.

Otto Skorzeny funeral, 1975 — 12 years following the coup in Dallas, 2 years after Nixon's impeachment, 41 years after Trump rode down that golden elevator, and 48 years after Trump's Waco-Nuremberg Rally - less than two full generations removed from the overthrow of the Kennedy presidency.  Note any relevance here? Would you teach your grandchildren about Chris Columbus but not this history?

Nobody really collects Fascist memorabilia who isn’t a fan of it. Fascism in America pre-dates Mussolini in Italy.

My father brought home some war "trophies" after his military service in Europe in WWII, (U.S. 753rd Tank Battalion) including a Belgian made Browning Hi-Power, and a knife in a sheath with a N-a-z-i insignia on the handle.  The knife was in a shoe box that I found in a closet while moving my mother into assisted living about ten years ago.

I was so creeped out by the knife with the N-a-z-i insignia that I threw it in the trash.  I didn't want it in my house.

It’s hard to tell without knowing him why he kept it. It could be the reason native American’s kept scalps or as a reminder of what that spectre reduced man to, what he had to do to fight to free Europe from tyranny.

Not to come across as hypocritical, I should perhaps distinguish between this and a guy actively collecting Fascist memorabilia to exhibit. And a chap who perhaps kept a token of his war as a reminder.

What is your interpretation?

Didn’t Jim Garrison also keep such memorabilia?
