Jeanie Dean
I'm listening over and over to Óró Sé Do Bheatha Abhaile (Gaelic) Sung and released on March 17, 2020 by Ireland's great Gaelic singer Muireann Nic Amhlaoibh on a crossroads in an Ireland village after a St. Patrick’s day anti-Trump mummery. Her voice is perfection. This song is the Irish anthem of liberty and resistance about he 16th century patriot Grace O’Malley, later revised by poet Paedrig Pearce calling Ireland’s folk to return home for the 1916 Easter Uprising.Other versions of note are:Seo Linn a young Irish bandConnemara Stone Cutters Finale at Christ Church Dublin led by John Spillane ORO - wake up
Jeanie Dean
Have you heard this pandemic is due to an alien off-planet colonization and like the Native Americans our immune systems are vulnerable to colonist DNA. Just kidding What is going on? The JFK coup stopped the whole world for 4 days, this wide world stoppage is going on for weeks.

That Reprise 45 rpm of All Along the Watchtower was the first Hendrix recording I ever heard back in the day. I probably played it a thousand times. The first Hendrix album I bought was Otis Redding / The Jimi Hendrix Experience, Historic Performances Recorded at the Monterey International Pop Festival (June 1967). I'd not yet been to a live concert by anyone. Like a Rolling Stone in particular and Wild Thing (dedicated to Dylan's grandmother!) blew me away. With Dylan's grandmother somewhere off to stage left... https://www.bing.com/videos/search?q=jimi+hendrix+like+a+rolling&docid=608016529494445821&mid=05F3BB3D6CE6E9A83B6605F3BB3D6CE6E9A83B66&view=detail&FORM=VIRE

James DiEugenio
Thanks for that Jeanie. Ireland is really a beautiful place. Whenever I see something like that, I am reminded of one of my favorite films in recent years: Local Hero. The last shot of that film is indelible. If you have not seen it, its a really good picker upper while being home. Another one you may like in the same category is Major League. BTW, why is it called the UK? Ireland and Scotland do not want to be united with England and Wales.
Ron Bulman
Went to the grocery store at 6:00 this evening, not crowded at all. They had what I needed but I noticed they were out of eggs. Found a small brisket. A wood fire outside in a few days sounds nice between clouds, rain and the news. I guess many others have read about Italians singing to each other from their balconies. About Gal Gadot's Imagine video, Gloria Gaynor's I Will Survive hand washing video. Even before he passed people were singing Bill Withers Lean on Me from balconies, windows, door steps and porches. https://www.bing.com/videos/search?q=imagine+john+lennon&view=detail&mid=B84CBDDFE86EE362BBC6B84CBDDFE86EE362BBC6&FORM=VIRE0&ru=%2fsearch%3fq%3dimagine%2bjohn%2blennon%26form%3dPRUSEN%26mkt%3den-us%26httpsmsn%3d1%26msnews%3d1%26rec_search%3d1%26refig%3d121e9ac4ee614b299bdd29f41e68801a%26sp%3d1%26ghc%3d1%26qs%3dLS%26pq%3dimagine%2bj%26sk%3dPRES1%26sc%3d8-9%26cvid%3d121e9ac4ee614b299bdd29f41e68801a https://www.bing.com/videos/search?q=bill+withers+lean+on+me+with&&view=detail&mid=1F00063C29F4DCB4C6E91F00063C29F4DCB4C6E9&&FORM=VRDGAR&ru=%2Fvideos%2Fsearch%3Fq%3Dbill%2Bwithers%2Blean%2Bon%2Bme%2Bwith%26qpvt%3Dbill%2Bwithers%2Blean%2Bon%2Bme%2Bwith%26FORM%3DVDRE I'd like to add this one for consideration along these lines. https://www.bing.com/videos/search?q=blue+skies+willie+nelson&view=detail&mid=1396E3BE8D7E7CD124051396E3BE8D7E7CD12405&FORM=VIRE0&ru=%2fsearch%3fq%3dblue%2bskies%2bwillie%2bnelson%26form%3dPRUSEN%26mkt%3den-us%26httpsmsn%3d1%26msnews%3d1%26rec_search%3d1%26refig%3d121e9ac4ee614b299bdd29f41e68801a%26sp%3d1%26ghc%3d1%26qs%3dLS%26pq%3dblue%2bskies%2bwillie%26sk%3dPRES1%26sc%3d8-17%26cvid%3d121e9ac4ee614b299bdd29f41e68801a Stay safe. Jeff Carter
The author of the "Hammer and Dance" piece has posted a new analysis focussing on the virus and the USA. Grim projections. W. Niederhut
Something about this "Fortitude Ranch" story* made me think of that line by Frederich Nietzsche-- "In heaven, all of the interesting people are missing." Not sure I would want to survive the Apocalypse up in the hills with a bunch of right wing, "survivalist" wack jobs. I'd rather take my chances with my fellow "loony libs" here in metro Denver. * Mysterious Colorado Doomsday Shelter For When "Law & Order Breaks Down" Sees Spike In Interest https://www.zerohedge.com/health/mysterious-colorado-doomsday-shelter-when-law-order-breaks-down-sees-spike-interest Edited April 5, 2020 by W. Jeff i agree with90% of the conclusions. It is pretty clearly written. I don't think it will end up being as great a calamity in number of deaths as.they projected, but who knows?. I agree ,the cause is a lack of centralization, and too much power to the states. Still, as an example of central authority, the President has the Defense Production Act, but is so overwhelmed by the conflicting financial interests of his prodigal son Jared Kushner and Peter Navarro, he's been timid and just unable to pull the trigger to compel our corporations to gear up, and provide the necessities .to fight this epidemic and protect our warriors on the front lines and if necessary outright dictate profit margins. It's interesting hearing your arguing for government centralization, Jeff. When for years now you and Jim Di Eugenio, and Ollie Stone with his statement 3 years ago, that the "Deep State" Is Bigger Problem Than Trump"' became unknowingly duped and bought the Shawn Hannity Republican "Government Deep state" hoax perpetuated only to foment distrust in the government and defund it to their Libetrarian hopes of a threadbare government only interested in the common defense so they could pay as little tax as possible. And you guys have just gotten sucked right into it. There was never a lot of talk here about the "corporate state". It was the Government Deep State", a cabal who some how passed their values through the generations like skull and crossbones or lineage. The movement at large co opted a President, who thought the corona virus was a deep state scam and a Democrat Party hoax, so he ignored it for months,to defiantly take a stand against the advice of the government "so called experts" to reassure his base that he wasn't going soft.. Ok Jeff, I guess I should welcome you to the fold, that the U.S. government could have a chance of doing anything positive. Not that you really have a stake at all, other than it's your major hobby and preoccupation. heh heh Edited April 5, 2020 by Kirk Gallaway

It's interesting hearing your arguing for government centralization... heh heh hi Kirk I just shared a link because others here had found earlier work by this author helpful, and the author does have a knack for clear writing and logical analysis. I wasn't endorsing or discussing government centralization or Deep State machinations. I think previous discussions have been a lot more nuanced than you describe. Pandemic response in Canada has also been largely decentralized to the individual provinces, with federal government handling the macro issues. It seems to make sense as, like in USA, there are regional particulars which could influence the appropriate or best responses. But it's a lot easier co-ordinating policies between fourteen interested parties (provinces/territories/fed gov), in comparison to fifty-one (states and fed gov). Gangland warfare over medical safety supplies probably would not happen up here. Astonished to hear those stories.
