Benjamin Cole
Worth remembering? Schumer: Trump ‘really dumb’ for attacking intelligence agencies BY MALLORY SHELBOURNE - 01/03/17 10:00 PM ET The Hill New Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) said Tuesday that President-elect Donald Trump is “being really dumb” by taking on the intelligence community and its assessments on Russia’s cyber activities. “Let me tell you, you take on the intelligence community, they have six ways from Sunday at getting back at you,” Schumer told MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow. “So even for a practical, supposedly hard-nosed businessman, he’s being really dumb to do this.” ---30--- The "left-wing" Maddow then chortled along at the CIA aiming torpedoes at an elected US president. Trump is such a divisive figure that the American left now exalts the Deep State and government secrecy. When did the Donks 100% throw in with the shadow government boys? Was it HRC? Or before? Or was it this way after the JFKA? After JFK, did any Donk president ever dare to cross the Deep State? The Bushes were CIA of course. Trump...was the outsider. Worth remembering. Stay skeptical. If there was something nefarious about that statement, wouldn't Schumer have put himself in danger by saying it? I mean, he's not wrong, is he? The intelligence community is a hell of a lot better at finding out hidden facts than the corrupt NY bozos that went after Trump in the past, right? This is what I mean by Spam. Ben has posted at least 4 posts on this. Now he dredges up a 5 year article and feigns faux astonishment of Schumer merely saying something everyone here already knows? And citing this as evidence that" Schumer and da donks" being in bed with the "Shadow Government Deep State" and couldn't just be an overall statement of common sense? Just like telling Roger Stone he's a complete fool for his tweets insulting his judge in his ongoing trial? And probably about a dozen posts saying this. Ben: Still waiting for a court trial, with an able well-funded defense, in an open courtroom. State investigations and prosecutions deserve detached, and skeptical review. Ben, We know by now you're an American justice homey who in this case thinks a 1/6 court trial will entirely turn around every testimony of all Trump's personal advisors , lawyers, cabinet members and his own family who desperately urged him to take action to call off the rioters that he ignored for over 3 hours, not even to mention the many who discouraged him from pursuing his election fraud claims in the first place. Just taking your advice, and giving a "detached, skeptical review." Edited August 24, 2022 by Kirk Gallaway
Joe Bauer
What ever happened to the Trump appointed head of the CIA? Is she still in charge? If so, wouldn't it have been prudent for Biden to have placed his own person in that incredibly important and influential position? Excuse my ignorance if Biden has already done so. Trump approved Gina Haspel as CIA Director after promoting his large flying monkey Mike Pompeo from CIA Director to Secretary of State (to replace Rex Tillerson, after Tillerson called Trump a "moron.") There was an interesting article at WaPo this week about Trump's flying monkey, Kash Patel. Trump tried to install Patel as Deputy Director of the CIA, but withdrew the nomination after Haspel threatened to quit. Ultimately, Trump installed Patel as Assistant Sec Def, to support his flying monkey Chris Miller at the Pentagon (after Esper quit.) Now Patel is working for Trump at NARA, trying to convince people that Trump de-classified the documents, etc. Trump only hires the best flying monkeys. Steve Thomas
Nothing like shooting yourself in the foot. Trump appears to concede he illegally retained official documents https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2022/aug/23/trump-illegal-documents-fbi-mar-a-lago “Court motion submitted by ex-president’s lawyers argues some materials seized by FBI could be subject to executive privilege Donald Trump appeared to concede in his court filing over the seizure of materials from his Florida resort that he unlawfully retained official government documents, as the former president argued that some of the documents collected by the FBI could be subject to executive privilege. The motion submitted on Monday by the former president’s lawyers argued that a court should appoint a so-called special master to separate out and determine what materials the justice department can review as evidence due to privilege issues. “The documents seized at Mar-a-Lago … were created during his term as President. Accordingly, the documents are presumptively privileged until proven otherwise,” the filing said. “Only an evaluation by a neutral reviewer, a Special Master, can secure the sanctity of these privileged materials.” But the argument from Trump that the documents are subject to executive privilege protections suggests those documents are official records – which he is not authorized to keep and should have turned over to the National Archives at the end of the administration. The motion, in that regard, appeared to concede that Trump violated one of the criminal statutes listed on the warrant used by the FBI to search the former president’s Mar-a-Lago resort – 18 USC 2071 – concerning the unlawful removal of government records.” Steve Thomas
