Steve Thomas
George Santos is the superstar MAGA deserves by Amanda Marcotte, Salon February 06, 2023 https://www.rawstory.com/george-santos-2659376500/ “But there's an even darker reason that Carlson, Bannon, Taylor Greene, etc. have decided to rally round Santos: He's very useful as a weapon in their larger war on truth”. “There's a point to right-wingers constantly saying and "believing" things they know not to be true. It's about devaluing empirical reality. Fascists want "truth" to flow from what the right-wing authority figures say is "true," not from lived experience or verifiable facts. They are trying to construct a world where facts don't matter, and only power does.” “The first step is getting their tribal community to agree collectively to stop distinguishing between true and false and to only claim to believe what is convenient for their leaders or their cause. For that goal, Santos is useful.“ Donald Trump: 'What you're seeing and what you're reading is not what's happening' https://www.bbc.com/news/av/world-us-canada-44959340 Steve Thomas
W. Niederhut
Here is more history, for Ben and Mathew Koch, debunking their purple revisionist delusions about the Koch agenda. Recall that the Koch brothers were focused for decades on their "misanthropic libertarian" agenda to roll back the New Deal, abolish Medicare, and obstruct environmental protection and climate change mitigation. Paul Ryan and Mitch McConnell were two of their main Congressional bell hops. Mike Pence is another Koch bell hop. They also spent big bucks to sabotage Obamacare. The Trump/McConnell/Ryan Billionaire Tax Cuts & Healthcare Demolition Act of December 2017 came straight from the Koch's Heritage Foundation. It was a Koch dream come true, which also mandated major cuts in Medicaid spending. Anyone who thinks that Trump wasn't serving the Koch agenda is living in an alternate MAGA-verse. Koch Money Aims to Sink Build Back Better Bill on Climate, Welfare – Rolling Stone W- I think you are incorrect, and there were major policy differences, and a great deal of hostility, between the libertarian-ish Koch brothers, and the Trump Administration. Oddly, you cite the wall on the souther border, a Trump proposal that would limit the flow of illegal and cheap labor into the US. The Koch brothers, and the Donks, want an open border (as did Ronald Reagan). The New Donks have a lot in common with Reagan, the more I think about it. Trump's tariffs on Sino imports is another major policy initiative deeply opposed by the Koch brothers (as well as Apple, Amazon, Disney, BlackRock, GM, Citigroup, et al and the entire phalanx of globalist think tanks and many academics (almost always funded by neo-lib and neo-con money). "Powerful US billionaire brothers Charles and David Koch are funding a multi-million dollar campaign against President Donald Trump's trade tariffs. Three political groups backed by the brothers say they will use advertising, lobbying and grassroots campaigns to push the benefits of free trade." https://www.bbc.com/news/business-44366737 ---30--- Certainly on trade and immigration---twin daggers pointed at the US employee class---the Koch brothers were firmly at odds with Trump Administration policies (and curiously aligned with the New Donks). The enmity between the Koches and Trump is well-known. You should be asking yourself why the New Donks (aside from outsiders like Sanders or AOC) are indistinguishable from neo-cons. Most of these people are members of globalist organizations like the Trilateral Committee, Council on Foreign Relations, World Economic Forum, Bilderberg, APAC, Etc.. People with these connections tend to lean Fascist imo and only seem to benefit the military industrial complex and the corporations that make money from them. MK- IMHO, Jimmy Dore overstates the case, but he made good points---and it is Tucker Carlson that gives Dore's far-left views air time? Not CNN, MSNBC, NYT, WaPo, et al? What the heck has happened to the Democratic Party? Ben, Trump's signature legislative "achievement" as POTUS was his December 2017 Billionaire Tax Cut & Healthcare Demolition Act. It was a Koch brother's dream come true-- massive tax cuts for corporations and billionaires, mandated cuts in Medicaid and Medicare, and a rider abolishing the Obamacare individual mandate. Trump also approved the Keystone export pipeline for los Hermanos Koch. The only reason the Kochs are ditching Trump now is that he has become a liability. As for your notion that the Koch-to-pus is purple-- it's laughable. It's like arguing that Liberace was heterosexual. Edited February 7, 2023 by W. You have dodged the issues of whether the Koches were firmly opposed to Trump (they were) and whether they support the Reagan-New Donk open borders policies for trade and immigration. From the NYT today Immigration Rebound Eases Shortage of Workers, Up to a Point While the Biden administration has accelerated processing after Trump-era restrictions and a pandemic slowdown, visa backlogs remain large. You see what has happened? The Donk media outlets sees "worker shortages." How does a "worker shortage" stack up for anybody who works for a living? You have been trained to accept that there are "worker shortages." The New Donk party serves up inconsequential social issues to blind its voting base. Trans-rights, and gun laws, abortion, and endless ID politics. The 'Phants do the same, on the same issues, les on ID politics but they toss in some religion. IMHO: Stay skeptical and independent. Benjamin Cole
EXCLUSIVE: Justice Dept. Seeks Dismissal of JFK Records Lawsuit---Jefferson Morley Court brief argues Biden has discretion to hide as many assassination files as the CIA wants. The Biden Justice Department responded Monday to a lawsuit brought by the non-profit Mary Ferrell Foundation charging President Biden and the National Archives with failure to implement the 1992 JFK Assassination Records Act. The 30-page brief, signed by Deputy Assistant Attorney General Brian Boynton, seeks to dismiss the foundation’s lawsuit on the ground the president has discretion to implement the JFK Records Act without regard for the original intent of Congress, which passed the law unanimously in October 1992. ---30--- Egads.
