Mark Zaid, JFK and Trump

As long as Trump loses, who cares if it's Bernie or Biden? I'd settle for my local dogcatcher (a nice lady) in the White House if it means Trump is out. The republic (what's left of it) should survive whoever the Democrat is, but I don't know about Trump.

Just an FYI.  I've been skiing every week since mid-December out here in Colorado and I haven't hit a single rock all season.

Not so good for snow in New York State and Pennsylvania, and I think New England also, this year.

Totally Agree.

Get rid of Trump and his corrupted cronies.

Joe, add to that a "snowless" Europe this season due to climate change, and (based on where I live) greatly reduced snowfall in the northern US, and the winter sports and tourism industries take hits on top of Coronavirus fear losses:

This past February was the driest on record for Northern California.

California's number one industry is agriculture.

Tourism is one of the top 5.

Even without the coronavirus hit, without tourists and enough water California could suffer major economic losses.

Does anyone think that Biden is going to take many of those southern states if he wins the nomination?

I believe that Biden has a good chance of taking Florida and that Sanders has none. Which means that Biden will quite possibly win the general election. That's the main reason I voted for him in the primary.

The coronavirus could play a big part in this election. As it spreads, an important factor will be how many lies per day Trump can tell about it. Will enough people finally get sick of his lies when they're actually sick?

Today's major Trump lie: We've "shut it down."

How can any democrat defend this? It’s way past embarrassing and draconian. It makes me think of a pertinent quote by JFK regarding revolution.

Oops. Was moving back and forth between here and Twitter and got confused which one I was on.

Like us or not, this thread is approaching 50,000 views.

Of recently viewed threads, we are beaten only by "Who Was QJ/WIN," started in 2007, with over 57,000 views.

I believe we owe it all to Mark Zaid, and so I propose the creation of an annual Mark Zaid Prize at this institution.

Here's the latest extent of Coronavirus xenophobia.  Its racist aspect is familiar from America's past: the new Yellow Peril:

Just an FYI.  I've been skiing every week since mid-December out here in Colorado and I haven't hit a single rock all season.

We've had better years, and worse,

On the flip side of the coin....

I've lived most my life in Utah. I don't know about in the ski resorts here (I quit skiing decades ago), but down in the valley it's way different now than when I was growing up. As a kid, winters of perpetual snow on the ground -- often reaching 18" -- kept us entertained daily as we sled, tubed, and bizzed cars.

Car bizzing.

Now we usually don't have any snow accumulation in the valleys. It snows much less often, and when it does snow it usually melts by the next day.

Regarding the article, whose subtitle is "No one is coming [to our restaurant] because people blame the Chinese for the outbreak" ....

It's not because people blame the Chinese for Coronavirus that they've quit dining at Chinese restaurants. It's because they fear that Chinese restaurant employees are more likely than others to have been infected with the virus, given that they are more likely to have recently visited China.

I know that racism is still a big problem, but I wish people would consider other explanations first before fixating on racism.

IMO.
